Federal Truball slugs through a rifled choke tube?
Would the Federal Truball slugs shoot good through a smooth bore 20 gauge w/ a 28" VR barrel with a rifled choke tube? or should i get sabots
It's designed for smoothbore barrels hence the Foster-type "rifled" design....and rifled choke tubes can add 20% to the accuracy of a Foster-type rifled slug....I'd have to say yes.

can a 12 gauge shotgun take down a bear ex: a black bear?
If not what gauges could?
Depending upon the slug, the 12 gauge is capable of launching a 440 grain 72 caliber hunk of lead at speeds around 1600 to 1800 fps in a smooth bore 20 inch barrel.
This will drop all bears better than the 30-06 that jacob thinks is better.
I know hunters who went hunting brown bear in Alaska, and the guide held a 12 gauge for an emergency back up shot. The 12 will do more damage than the heaviest of rifles. Its only drawback is the range.
If you hunt over bait, the distance will be about 30 meters. I use a Bennelli loaded with 3 inch Brennike slugs. I have killed big black bear, and Moose in Maine with one shot, no problems, and have always had a complete pass through.
