How do i fix my radio i have at my home it goes extremely loud?

the knob on my radio some how is messed up. when i try to turn it down it goes louder and louder. im afraid to try and fix it because im scared it might break the glass in my house because its soo loud. its a pioneer audio/video multi- channel Receiver vsx-d5o9s digital signal processor. how do i get it to go back to normal its a good radio.

I have the same receiver with the same problem-I just use the remote control now.I noticed though that if apply upward force to the control as I turn it that it works properly leading me to believe that there might be a bad solder connection on the volume board or the control is itself is bad.
