What type of file is needed to play a DVD on an ordinary home DVD player?

I captured a video to my hard drive from my digital camcorder using Windows Movie Maker. I then burned that file onto a DVDr. My home DVD player will not recognize it. What kind of file do I need to convert it to, and will Windows Movie Maker have the ability to create that type of file.

DVD format is VOB, you have to convert your video to DVD compatible video at first, otherwise standard DVD player can not read and play it.
