why is my stereo head unit turning off?

okay i just installed a sony xplod head unit in my car, it will turn on and show me the demo and stuff and i can adjust the clock, but when i put in a cd or hit source it turns off and the lights just start blinking on the buttons on and off. whats going on. how can i fix this

The unit could be defective, but more than likely it is not wired right....if you did it yourself take it out and check the wiring under good lighting and think about it carefully if someone else did it take it back tell them the unit is defective.

Engineering software..mechanical/electronic for gear,shafts design? help me out all engineers please!?

Hi,
I need a software with which I can preview a mehanical design using gears and shafts..its a changer mechanism with a stepper motor design to provide a filter infront of a light source.
I am mostly into electronics but i have to design the mechanical part,which helps move the filter or change from one filter to the other.
I would like to use a software where you can simulate and design this.
Any help wpuld be great..please adivse on which is the best software to use, freeware or shareware or demo, i dont mind.

they have a student package, but i think it will still be expensive. You might be able to find demoware. It's worth the leg work if you get a copy
