my lap top wont connect through the earth-net cable. IP address?

my lap top connects fine through the wireless connection but as soon as i switch to earthnet cable it as limited conectivty it says that it is trying to solve the problem by making a new IP adress but it wont complete the process

well if you are connecting to a cable modem or dsl, you need to try and trurn the computer off and the cable modem off or dsl box off for at least 1 to 2 minutes. Then power on the cable modem or dsl and let it boot up. Then power up the computer. This will force a new ip address. It shoould go on. If not, then you need to go into the network area of you computer and disable the wireless card and then it might go. Also if that don't work, you would need to go to the network area again and right click on the lan connection (the one trying to connect) and click on properties you are looking for where you input the address like thestatic ip and such. Make sure that the box is checked for automatic . I hope this helps.
