Nephew Used

What art materials can be used to cover a foam head?

My nephew has to make a bust (head) for a biography project. We were going to cover the foam head with model magic but it seems like it might be to hard and will damage or dent in the foam head. Can anyone suggest any other material that can be used. Thanks

Will the foam head be left encased in the model magic?

I am concerned that it may crack as it dries and hardens. The material will shrink but the foam will stay the same size. You can do thin layers letting it dry between or plan on removing the head before drying. You can also plan to try repairing the cracks.

Another material that can be used is plasticine - an oil based modeling clay that never hardens.

I would probably start by taking a rolling pin or jar making small cookies to apply to the foam head. I would start applying small slabs to encase the foam head then add more as needed. I would use this technique for model magic or plasticine

I am more experienced using high fire clay but this material needs to be bisqued in a ceramic kiln to 1800 degrees Farenheit.

Disposal of a hunting rifle that has been used for suicide?

A friend of mine had a nephew that used a gun to kill himself several years ago. Its been in storage at his sisters house ever since, and the family wants to get rid of it. Of course practically, they could try and sell it, but because of the history they don't feel emotionally able to do that. Does anyone know of another option?
