How much would it cost to replace a bulb in a projection TV?
I could get a free TV but the bulb is burnt out.
SO I was wondering how much it would cost me to get it up and running again.

How to Replace a Projector Lamp
Will the bulb life a rear projection tv be dramatically shortened if the tv were turned on and then off?
I went to turn on my Rear Projection LCD tv, to find out that my friend had just turned it on himself. Therefore, it was turned on, off, and then on again (turned it back on after I turned it off) in about 15 seconds.
My question is whether this will have any ill effects on either the bulb life or the tv in general. I know that it should not be done often; but do you think that once would be alright?

The newer Mitsubishi and Toshiba DLP's have a feature where the lamp will not completly shut off for a couple of minutes to avoid just such cases. Older DLP's and LCD rear projection sets do not.
One time will not have a great effect on it's longevity.
