Torn cartilage in my knee, what can help?

I recently tore some cartilage in my knee playing football and have been slowly rehabbing it. I've had MRI's and the doctor said their is a minor tear, but that he doesn't recommend a scope yet unless it bothers me, which it doesn't really.

My question is the football season is fast approaching and I want to be as close to 100% as I can be. I found Triflex pills from GNC which are supposed to aid in rebuilding cartilage, but is there ANYTHING else I can do or take to help get me better preparred for the season?

Also, as a side note, I hear having your knee scoped requires you to go back every year or so and do it again. Is there any truth to this?

Don't play footbal or do anything to make it worse.

Glucosamine condroiton is supposed to help with joints.

My girlfriends husband has had both knees scoped and he has to go back every few years to be rescoped because he doesn't give up the activities that do the damage.

2002 Honda Accord V6 transmission rebuild, new, or used?

I have a 2002 Honda Accord V6 which has a bad transmission and 117k miles. It hard shifts/slips on 2nd and 3rd. How much would it cost to: 1. rebuild 2. buy new 3. buy used. What are the pros and cons of each. What would you recommend? I took it to a local company, they tried replacing the solenoids which did not work. Now they want me to pay $1k for a soft rebuild plus the cost of anything else they find wrong in there. It shows no errors on their scope. Please help.
It's a 4 speed automatic. Can't believe I left that out. Wish I had purchased a manual.

DON'T have a Honda transmission rebuilt by anyone except Honda. If you can't afford one right from Honda then try to find a used one in a salvage yard, preferably one that was rebuilt by Honda. Otherwise trade the vehicle for a newer one.

If you can find one at a salvage yard from a 2003 or newer vehicle that will still fit that might be the best idea. You just have to make sure it will work on yours.

Personally I don't think the 12000 mile one year warranty is worth having a Honda dealer do the work. Buy the tranny from Honda but if you know a good independent Honda mechanic have them put it in for you even if you don't get the warranty. After all look how long your present tranny lasted.
