Is NYIP worth it and do you need a film camera for the professional photography course?

I've been reading alot of reviews about this course and it seems that most people love it or hate it....

First of all Do I need a film camera to complete the course? or would my digital camera suffice.

Secondly is the content really that dated?

Thirdly are the student tutors or advisors really not that helpful with constructive criticism?

I have just started a professional photography course where I live.

We need a film camera, in fact, we are spending a few months on film/slides.

if you don't have one, go to ebay, you can get a good enough second-hand SLR for bargain prices.

i would say if the course was any good at all then you absolutely will need a film camera.

Is the Nikon D40 a good camera for a complete beginner?

I have no experience in photography and would like to take it up as a hobby. What's a good camera for me?
I've heard people say that the Nikon D40 or D3000 is good, but are they?
