There are various advantages, which make Optical Fibres better than Copper systems. The crucial operating difference between a fibre optic communication system and other types is that signals are transmitted as light. Conventional electronic communication relies on electrons passing through wires. Radio frequency and microwave communications rely on radio waves and microwaves travelling through open space. fiber optic question?
so i am doing my science fair on fiber optics: describe the relationship between the length of the fiber optics and the intensity of the light. i hypothesized that the longer the tube, the lesser the intensity. but i got the end emitting fiber optics and wen i did my experiment (shine light through different lengths), the longer ones appeared to have more intensity. why is that?
It shouldn't be more!!! It should be roughly equal, you are right that the longer it is the more intensity should decrease but attenuation (reduction in intensity) of signal in optical fibers is low which is one of the reasons they are so useful for communication.
