Processor Warranty

If I keep having problems w/my computer, have a year warranty, does the company have to replace the processor?

I bought a Dell almost a year ago and starting about 4 months after I bought it, it started messing up. First we had "virtual memory" problems, then the memory had to be replaced, then the DVD burner, and now again the DVD burner does not want to work. Does Dell have to replace the processor if I am not happy w/it??? I want to throw the stupid computer in the trash!!!! WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THEM REPLACE IT???

Dell is real good supporting their products under warranty. They will most likely come out to your house or office and replace the motherboard and/or the processor. That is what they did with mine. Make sure you call them before the warranty expires.

If I want to overclock my processor?

From 2.10GHz to around 2.30GHz - 2.40GHz, what's the risk? The warranty on my computer is already void because I installed a new video card, so I want to know what's the best program to overclock a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000 2.10GHz?

There isn't space to cover all of the steps involved, but overclocking a CPU usually involves increasing the voltage to the chip itself, as well as tweaks done through the BIOS. The danger is that your computer will overheat, and any overclocking like the one you are talking about will require an efficient cooling solution, usually in the form of an aftermarket heat sink/fan combo, or water cooling.

Is it feasible in your case? It depends on what kind of motherboard you have, what BIOS you are running, and your general setup. My advice is to head over to the forums on various overclocking-specific websites and dig around. Worst case scenario? You fry your CPU...
