Tower Cart

Need help with a java program.?

Hi, so I am making this program, kinda like a shopping cart, want to make it basic though. So I have to have at least 8 accessories, for customers to buy. I need the program in a way so that once I put my list for example.

1) Mouse.................$19.99
2) Keyboard.............$24.99
3) Monitor................$149.99
4) Video Card...........$49.99
5) RAM....................$34.99
6) PSU....................$29.99
7) Speakers.............$19.99
Tower Case..........$14.99

So this is what the customer will see, and I want them to be able to pick by choosing numbers. Once they are done choosing, I want the program to add the price together and give an output of the receipt.

It would be great if someone can help me out, atleast give me an idea on where to start, or an outline, or what commands I should use, etc.

Well let's see. You might want to put the menu printing in its own method for ease of calling. You'll need a loop that goes until the user says they're done buying. You'll also need a variable, in this case a double, to tally up the cost. Most importantly you're going to want to look up the Scanner feature, which will detect what the user types in (you'll be using ScannerObject.nextInt()).

For the simplest program, have the menu print out a fixed string like the one you've given. Make an array where the price is keyed to the menu option.

For a more advanced program, make a custom class that stores the name, the price, and the formatted string output (like each line up there). Make an array of those objects and print through them. Use a getter method to get the price.
