The Photoshop® Channels Book $19.99 One big advantage Photoshop professionals have always had was the understanding of channels. It was their secret weapon, and it enabled them to do things, and work in an entirely different way than their competitors, and maybe that's why the secret power of Photoshop's channels has been such a closely guarded secret. Until now. Award-winning, bestselling author Scott Kelby (Editor of Photoshop User magazine) shows you how to unlock the power of Photoshop's Channels and really start using Photoshop like a pro. But this isn't a book of theory and technical explanations, this is a step-by-step project-based book that will teach you exactly how to the pros use channels in their everyday work (Using channels is one of the secrets they use to get twice the work done in half the time). You'll learn how today's top photographers and graphic designers employ channels to make impossible selections, to speed their production workflow, to color correct images, to mask images, to create stunning color to black and white conversions, and to do dozens of inside tricks that set them apart from the field. There's a reason there's always been a mystique to using channels, and why Photoshop users who understand and use them stay on the cutting edge. Now, their secrets are revealed using the same plain-English style that has made Scott one of the leading Photoshop authors and instructors in the world today. You'll be amazed at not only what you're able with channels, but you'll love the competitive advantage that using channels will give you. Convective Condensation in Small Diameter Channels $143.39 This work presents an experimental and analytical study on the convective condensation in small diameter channels. Two different types of heat exchangers were tested: one with conventional channels and one where a porous boundary was present. Tests were performed for low and high flow rates and two saturation temperatures. For low flow rates, the condensers with small diameter channels presented excellent heat dissipation capability, with high Nusselt numbers. For the condenser with a porous boundary, the Nusselt number was even higher when compared with the condenser with conventional channels, even for the same channel size. For high flow rates, the Nusselt number presented higher levels than those observed for low flow rate, and the pressure drop was also high. Equations for Nusselt number and pressure drop predictions were obtained, which showed excellent degree of correlation. During the tests, four different flow patterns could be observed: annular, bubbly, plug and stratified. An analytical model for the heat transfer process in small diameter channels was developed, where the liquid film thickness and the meniscus curvature could be calculated. Author: R. Creating Channels With Apis (Paperback) $51.43 Many of the highest traffic sites get more than half of their traffic not through the browser but through the APIs they have created. Salesforce.com (more than 50%) and Twitter (more than 75% fall into this category. Ebay gets more than 8 billion API calls a month. Facebook and Google, have dozens of APIs that enable both free services and e-commerce, get more than 5 billion API calls each day. Other companies like NetFlix have expanded their service of streaming movies over the the web to dozens of devices using API. At peak times, more than 20 percent of all traffic is accounted for by Netflix through its APIs. Companies like Sears and E-Trade are opening up their catalogs and other services to allow developers and entrepreneurs to create new marketing experiences. Making an API work to create a new channel is not just a matter of technology. An API must be considered in terms of business strategy, marketing, and operations as well as the technical aspects of programming. This book, written by Greg Brail, CTO of Apigee, and Brian Mulloy, VP of Products, captures the knowledge of all these areas gained by Apigee, the leading company in supporting the rollout of high traffic APIs. |

A Journey with the Ion Channels Voltage Sensor $127.45 Voltagegated ion channels are proteins that conduct ions at high rates through the plasma membrane. Ion channels work in concert to generate and propagate the action potential. The bit of information in our nerves and neurons is the action potential. Information is transmitted from one point in our nervous system to another in a frequencycoded format, i.e. the number of action potentials per unit time is the neural code which must be formed at the point of generation and translated at the target point. As the name implies, voltagegated ion channels are gated open and closed via sensing the electric field across the plasma membrane. To perform this function, it has a voltage sensing domain, the domain which bears charged amino acids that relocate upon changes in the membrane electric field. These charged amino acids carry the gating charge. The voltagedependent movement of the sensor induces conformational changes in the protein structure of the ion channel that ultimately lead to opening or closing of the gate. The main voltage sensing part in the voltage sensing domain is S4. The author during his PhD managed to probe the Length, Path, and Charge Displacement of S4. Investigation of Radio Channels Under Trains $103.56 Basic aim of work is to investigate the behavior of radio channels under the freight train. Measurements are performed in different environments; anechoic chamber, free field, car parking area and under the freight train and to see the influence of train metal environment on the channel characteristics. Three different ISM frequency bands; 434 MHz, 868 MHz and 2.4 GHz are used for the measurements to see which band is appropriate for the train environment.Transmitting and receiving antennas are separated at different distances in meters and power of the received signal is measured at the receiver side with spectrum analyzer. On the basis of these measurements, a path loss model is designed, for each frequency band measured, which provides the mathematical and graphical description of measurements. The investigation shows that 2.4 GHz Band gives better results than 434 MHz and 868 MHz for wireless communication system under trains. Digital Transmission Over Wireless Fading Channels $96.59 This book analyzes the error rates of a variety of wireless digital techniques over fading channels with particular emphasis on the DPSK systems. This work leads to a useful framework to analyze the error rates of digital techniques over fading channels, and the proposal of a reducedcomplexity and lowcost MIMO system for wireless communications. The analysis also simplifies and generalizes the previous results of the error rates of wireless communication techniques over independent and correlated fading channels without resorting to approximations. In addition to that, the impact of carrier synchronization on the performance of coherent digital communication systems is investigated. From practical point of view, this research study is expected to be helpful in the design of the practical radio communication receivers. On the Achievable Rate of Stationary Fading Channels (Hardcover) $345.87 This volumes discusses various aspects regarding the capacity/achievable data rate of stationary Rayleigh fading channels. First, it analyses bounds on the achievable data rate with zero-mean proper Gaussian input symbols, which are capacity achieving in the coherent case, i.e., in case of perfect channel knowledge at the receiver. These bounds are tight in the sense that the difference between the upper and the lower bound is bounded for all SNRs. The lower bound converges to the coherent capacity for asymptotically small channel dynamics. Furthermore, these bounds are extended to the case of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels and to the case of frequency selective channels. In a further part, the present work studies the achievable rate with receivers based on synchronized detection and a code-aided channel estimation. For a specific type of such a receiver an approximate upper bound on the achievable rate is derived. The comparison of this approximate upper bound and the achievable data rate with receivers using synchronized detection based on a solely pilot based channel estimation gives an approximate upper bound on the possible gain by using this kind of code-aided channel estimation in comparison to the conventional receiver using a solely pilot based channel estimation. In addition, the achievable data rate with an optimal joint processing of pilot and data symbols is studied and a lower bound on the achievable rate for this case is derived. In this context, it is also shown which part of the mutual information of the transmitter and the receiver is discarded when using the conventional receiver with synchronized detection based on a solely pilot based channel estimation. |

The Last ET, Virtual Moon Mission and a Job Well Done on This Week @ NASA
one of my my speaker channels does not work on my receiver?
one my of my speaker channels does not work on my receiver anybody know what could have happend to it. or did it blow out.
To diagnose: First, check your balance knob. Sometimes a cat or child can monkey with it.
Then in the back of the receiver swap the left & right speaker connector wires to find out whether it's the speaker or the connection. If the sound switches sides, then the problem's in the receiver. If the same speaker stays silent, you've ruled out the receiver as the problem. Swap back the wires before proceeding.
Next, the quickest thing to do is make certain the connection wire is still firmly attached to the speaker. If they are, try disconnecting the dead speaker and attach the wires that are currently going to the working speaker. If the speaker comes to life, it's probably the wires themselves. If not, then it's within the speaker.
