Capture Device

I have a olevia 237t12 hdtv and im trying to hook up a capture device?

the the device is a pennacle video transfer. I'm using the composite cables to hook it up from my tv. I'm pretty sure that i need to plug them into my tv's outputs but does it have any. and if not what are my other options?

Component jacks on TV sets are INPUTS ONLY...you will need to connect the Pinnacle directly out of the Cable or Satellite box and PASS the video OUT of the Pinnacle to the TV set...

Hopefully that's the way the Pinnacle is made...with Inputs and OUTputs...

If i have video capture software, do i HAVE to have the capture device?

I have an easycap capture card and Ulead VideoStudio, but i was wondering if i could bypass the capture card itself. Could i, or is there anyway, to say... plug my Xbox 360 via HDMI into my computer, and connect the computer also via HDMI to my tv and still record it with JUST the VideoStudio software? The reason i ask is cause i would like a better quality video than the crap the little device gives.
