Light Supply Light

Wiring a light socket to power supply?

I am trying to wire a light socket to a power supply such as an extension chord for an aquarium fuge (small container hooked on back of tank to filter with natural macro algae). I just need to know how I can wire my socket to either an extension chord or a power converter.
Sorry "top contributor" Mike, I just filled in the question and it automatically selected this as the best fit... All I wanted to know was if I needed a special piece/adapter/wiring kit... I guess my socket is just a bunk one.

Hmmm...... if you are trying to get power behind an aquarium, then use an extension cord. If the the filter device requires 120VAC, then there will be 2 or 3 wires, the same as an extension cord. Black to black; white to white; green to green. If it's an outlet, the black wire to the gold screw, white wire to the silver screw, green (ground) to the green (ground) lug.

But if you are unsure of the steps/procedure, consult a reputable electrician. Never mess with the wiring while plugged in. Always remove power prior to modifying.
