Portable Video Capture

Convert .MOD/.MOI files? Please read description.?

Footage I have captured on a JVC Everio video camera is now on my WD Passport Portable Hard Drive. I need to convert the videos to edit on the Macbook I've borrowed from my High School [using Final Cut Express], without the loss of audio - which I have encountered using AVS and Cyberlink.

What I do is use the the mac version of a free app called Mpegstreamclip

I open up the video with it and I have it export it as Quicktime (although Pro Res 422 would be better but use QT for the sake of simplicity)

You might also have to deinterlace the video file in question if the camera had interlaced it, you can do this through FC or by checking the de-interlace box before you click "OK" of the MPEGSC "export to" window
but don't do unless it is necessary otherwise you will with the rez of the video and it will add a bunch of "noise" to the video

Can i link a video gaming capture card to a portable hard drive? PLEASE HELP!!!?

Right now im currently interested in posting video gaming videos (modern warfare 2) onto a youtube channel. My only problem is that i dont know how to use an internal capture card, and all of the others seem to need a computer right next to your xbox. Im wondering if its possible to get a capture card that plugs into your tv, with a USB on the other side and then plug the USB into an external or portable hard drive, and then later once im done gaming, plug the hard drive into my computer and then edit and revise the videos in order to post them on youtube.
