Head Endoscopy Camera

Having an endoscopy tomorrow, and I'm completely and utterly freaking out about the entire thing?

Can someone walk me through it? I'm really upset about being put to sleep (I HATE not being awake while people are staring at me, and more importantly, shoving cameras down my throat...). What does it feel like? Will my head feel dizzy? Will I see double? How bad is it gonna be?

Ok well i am sure i can help you out here since i've had two of them done. First, they don't put you completely asleep, you are still semi-conscious. From your question you seem more worried about what the experience is going to be like but most likely you will probably forget the whole thing because of the meds. I remember i was extremely nervous so after they put the IV in me they went ahead and gave me something to relax. Then after they rolled me in to the procedure room i remember talking to the doctor and that is ALL i remember. Next thing I know I am waking up at home something like 6 hours later. I felt just fine! I had a slight discomfort in my throat but it wasn't even as bad as getting a soar throat from a cold. It was gone after a few hours. It actually turned out to be a pleasant experience and I was glad i didn't remember anything. I think you have to go through this to overcome the anxiety but it is very routine and try not to stress. If they want to give you an endoscopy it is because it is necessary to treat you.
