Celiac disease questions?

The doc found the IGg antibody in the Celiac blood panel. I am scheduling the endoscope after the holidays. I was wondering if they perform an ELISA test with the samples obtained from the endo scope. The ELISA test count the number of white blood cells within a certain area of your upper gi. Celiacs have can have around 200, and the norm is 10. Supposedly it takes 2 years of a Gluten free diet to get back to the normal antibody levels and the villi will completely heal. I got glutened once I was wondering if that puts me back at square one.

What they do with the endoscopy samples is to look at the tissue to confirm that you have flattened villi. The ELISA testing is usually done only with bloodwork from what I understand.

The length of time that it takes to get back to "normal" antibody levels depends on the person themselves, amount of damage done, age, other factors such as general health. Personally I had recovered, normal villi a year post gf diet check, and I was diagnosed as an adult. So, the answer is, yes it can take 2 years, but not always.

having an endoscope done?

so i may have an ulcer, and am having the scope done this afternoon and i am really nervous about it. I know I'll be drugged in a concious sedation, but I think that makes me even more nervous then if i was totally knocked out. The idea that i am going to be awake but not have any idea what is happening really freaks me out. Anyone had one of these scopes done? Is it scary? I'll be able to work tomorrow right(I'm having it done at 2pm today)?
