Donating microscropes or microfiche readers to a nonprofit.?
Hi everybody! I work with a nonprofit environmental center in Michigan. We are looking to expand our Outdoor Education offerings to area schools and one of the things we wish to explore is how microscopic (and macroscopic) organisms in lakes, ponds and streams can be used as indicators of the health of an ecosystem.
To do this, we need microscopes! Our goal is to get 10-20 "field" microscropes (small, easily portable) for students to carry with them. We would also like a large "display" microscope for our lab so that we can work with people with visual impairments - I was told the old-fashioned microfiche readers work very well for this!
Does anyone know of any individual or organization that would sponsor this? We are looking for donations due to our budget limitations. Also, does anyone know where I might be able to find a microfiche reader or two? It would be a great help to make this program accessible to all students.

Since you are in Michigan, you should be contacting Mich St, U Mich, and the others. They will have such equipment being surplused all the time. If like most uni's, they will have school outreach programs.
